On behalf of the entire Unity Payments team, we hope you had an absolutely wonderful Easter long weekend! No matter how you chose to celebrate, or even if you weren’t celebrating at all, we hope the past few days have been fun and relaxing for you. Now that you’re back to work, what plans do you have to make your brand bigger than its competitors? If you’re thinking it’s time to spruce up your online store, you’re thinking right along with us!
It’s vital that your online store is able to cater to the needs of consumers. In other words, make it fun and easy to shop on your website! So what things should your online store not exist without?
Mobile-friendliness.
This point cannot be stressed enough. People tend to use their smartphones and tablets to shop online more than they are their desktop computers. It’s vital that your online store is easily accessible using mobile devices. As well, your mobile device-using shoppers should be able to easily navigate your site and complete purchases with ease.
“In addition to having a mobile-friendly store for shoppers to make a purchase from any device, also consider having a mobile app for your store,” adds Kristi Hines of Search Engine Journal, “Mobile apps allow you to keep your brand on your customer’s minds, placing your app icon/brand logo on the smart devices customers use most.”
An “Add To Cart” button.
As mentioned earlier, it’s imperative that you make shopping easy on your website. A clear and easy-to-locate “Add To Cart” button gives your site’s visitors an inviting way to go ahead and make that buying decision. By not having such a button or making it too small and hard to see, you run the risk of having your website’s visitors leave the product pages of items they’d otherwise buy right away.
“An ‘add to cart’ button serves as the ultimate call-to-action on any e-commerce site,” affirms PJ Calkins on CWS.net, “Make it large and position it away from other elements on the page. Red buttons work best, according to one study, as they invoke a sense of urgency.”
Customer reviews.
Here’s another point that simply cannot be stressed enough. Customer reviews are practically everything in the world of promoting your brand. Word of mouth marketing is priceless. Consumers are a lot more likely to trust the words of other customers than any advertising campaign. Include a customer review section on your e-commerce site. The positive reviews of your company’s products and services will go a long way in encouraging new visitors to make purchases.
“The most popular form of user-generated content found on ecommerce sites is product reviews and ratings,” informs Hines, “This section of an ecommerce product page is crucial to providing social proof to shoppers that a product will fit their needs. eBay allows customers to rate and review products, displaying reviews below the product descriptions and sponsored items. Other eBay users also have the option to rate reviews as useful or not, moving the best reviews to the top of the list on the product page.”
