The summer season is in full swing! The sun is shining and the kids are out of school. That means that malls will be filled, more than usual, for the next couple of months. As a result, online shopping will dip. Or will it? Remember that most online shoppers use mobile devices to make purchases. Don’t assume that the summer will impact your online sales. In fact, there are many things you can do to gain frequent visits to your online store this summer.
Ensure a mobile-friendly design.
As we just noted, most online shoppers do their online shopping on their mobile devices. It’s imperative that your e-commerce store is fully functional and easy to use on all smartphones, tablets and laptop computers. As ZenBusiness points out, mobile Google searches now make up for more than half of the 100 billion monthly queries made on the search engine.
“If you want to increase your sales and be more accessible to your customers, ensure that your online shop is mobile-friendly,” their website advises, “Responsive design ensures that your online store adjusts automatically to fit the screen on which it is being viewed. Thinking of your mobile users has the added advantage of improving your ranking on search engines, thus increasing your store’s visibility.”
Provide a wish list option.
You are bound to have people log on to your online shop just to browse. Don’t worry. There’s nothing wrong with that. However, it’s certainly wise to give your site’s visitors opportunities to make note of their items of interest. Create a wish list option that allows them to keep tabs on the products they may wish to return for.
“With the help of Wishlist, you can collect the data of every visitor that is coming to your e-commerce store,” informs Shivangi Agnihotri of WP Swings, “It doesn’t matter if they buy that item or not. But, you will have meaningful data that will help you make the right decisions for your e-commerce business improvements.”
Offer free shipping.
We have to reiterate this point made in a blog from last week. We would be hard pressed to think of anything that motivates shoppers more than the word “free”. Amazon has certainly taken note of this. The e-commerce giant has vastly multiplied return buys by having customers sign up for Amazon Prime. The major benefit of membership is free shipping on the vast majority of purchases. If you can offer such an option, you will practically guarantee return business.
“According to research, 78% of consumers are willing to buy more to qualify for free shipping,” reports Clearco, “This means that by offering free shipping, businesses can increase their average order value and drive more sales. Additionally, 27% of people are willing to shop in-store to avoid shipping costs, posing a risk to online-only businesses. By providing free shipping, businesses can retain these customers and prevent them from seeking alternatives.”
