“Working away from the office can make you feel in control of your life and give you more time to plan both work and home tasks,” he writes, “This gives a sense of achievement and makes employees more productive.” Herman notes that remote work enables people to avoid both rush hour traffic and having to carry files or a laptop. As well, you can take a break whenever you like and enjoy more family time at home.

You may assume that allowing employees to work from home may encourage them to slack off. After all, when people are wearing their PJs, they don’t usually feel like working, right? As Farrer reports, “teleworkers are an average of 35-40% more productive than their office counterparts, and have measured an output increase of at least 4.4%.” She also reveals that “with stronger autonomy via location independence, workers produce results with 40% fewer quality defects.”
