We know that we’re only a week into October. However, it’s not too early to begin preparing your store for the upcoming holiday season. Yes, we’re all in Thanksgiving and Halloween mode at the moment. But, in less than a month’s time, the holiday season will practically be here!
Make no mistake about it. There are many Canadian consumers who are already starting their holiday shopping. What can you do to attract them to your online shop?
Make your site a festive sight!
The earlier you update the images on your company website to represent the holidays, the better. When people visit your site and see festive imagery, it immediately connotes to them that you have their holiday shopping needs in mind. Even in October, it’s a good idea to add a few snowmen and mistletoes to the decor of your site. Getting the jump start on your competition in this regard will help to generate some sales a bit earlier than normal.
“As part of celebrating the season on your site, get festive with product images,” says Marisa Sanfilippo of Business News Daily, “When taking product photos, prop products up against a festive background, for example, to generate more attention. The images should be so good that users naturally want to share them on social media, especially on Pinterest.”
Create a holiday calendar.
Want consumers to know that your online shop is a go-to destination for holiday gift shopping? Create a holiday calendar and clearly display it on your website and social media accounts. As mentioned earlier, it’s really not too early to get into the holiday spirit. Your holiday calendar will both invoke feelings of holiday cheer and remind people to get into the spending mood.
According to Scalefast.com, creating a holiday calendar is a critical part of planning ahead. “If you are committed to content marketing, make sure you include relevant content throughout the holiday season,” contends the website, “Gift guides, list posts focused on gifts for him or her, and holiday-specific blog topics are all great ideas.”
Highlight your special offers and discounts.
There’s no question about it. The vast majority of holiday shoppers are looking for discounts. If you’re offering them in October, you’re bound to snatch up customers from your competitors. As Sanfilippo encourages, you should make sure your holiday offers are featured prominently on your homepage. That way, your site’s visitors won’t have to search for them.
“Interactive web banners spread across the top of the page are a great place to highlight offers and discounts,” she informs, “You can also generate traffic by frequently posting special offers to your social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. That way, buyers know where to find you and why they should choose you over competitors this holiday season.”
